BINATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL

Bogotá, March 8, 9, and 10, 2007

Proposal

The Bi-national Arts Festival brings together Secondary students (Middle and High  School) in the Arts from all the schools which belong to the SAC’S Community. The festival gives students the unique opportunity to perform at the higher level and on the larger scale than they would in their individual school programs. The festival is not competitive, but rather promotes the goal of working together, co-operatively and learning not only from peers, but also from the different styles of the participating teacher-directors. The students learn from each other artistically and culturally as the festival draws a diverse group together.

Recommendations

Although the Arts Festival is geared towards the advanced student, all motivated students are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity. Teachers should use their best judgment when choosing the school participants. Each participant should cover their own needs for the presentations (costumes, props, slides, etc.) However, a list of materials that can be covered by the festival will be announced (sound, materials such as poster paper)

General Aspects

  1. All schools are required to arrive in the afternoon the day before the Festival, Wednesday, March 7th.

  2. The arrival night, the coordinators will receive an orientation and dinner will be offered at 7:30 p.m. at the school. Transportation should be arranged by each coordinator.

  3. Brochures will be distributed with all the information regarding the Festival.

  4. Lunch will be offered to all participants on Saturday, March 10th

  5. Final performances and displays will close the event the afternoon of March 10th.
